Why Locals Love Leña - Pizzas y Empanadas
Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Palermo Soho, Leña - Pizzas y Empanadas is a charming, family-run gem that offers an authentic taste of Argentinian pizza and traditional empanadas with a welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere. This delightful eatery specializes in wood-fired pizzas crafted with passion and care, alongside empanadas made with the same artisanal dough, bridging rustic tradition with rich, fresh flavors.
The menu is a celebration of variety and quality, perfect for both individual diners and groups. Among their standout individual pizzas, the Pizza Espinaca masterfully combines creamy bechamel, tender spinach, mozzarella, and a dusting of parmesan, creating a luscious harmony of flavors across its four inviting slices. Equally tempting is the classic Pizza Margarita, made with melted mozzarella and fresh basil that bursts with bright, herbaceous notes. For those seeking a more indulgent palette, the Pizza Brie with mozzarella, creamy brie cheese, salty jamón crudo, and peppery rúcula offers a sophisticated flavor profile that surprises and delights with each bite.
For larger appetites or group sharing, Leña’s big pizzas are true comfort dishes. The Pizza Jamón y Morrones, loaded with smoky ham and sweet roasted peppers, and the traditional Pizza Fugazzeta featuring melted mozzarella and sweet onions, speak to classic Buenos Aires flavors that are deeply satisfying. Their crust strikes an impeccable balance—fluffy yet slightly cakey, perfectly fermented and baked in a wood-fired oven to achieve that enticingly soft inside paired with a subtle charred crisp on the edges.
Empanadas here are an absolute highlight, with locals and visitors alike praising their unrivaled quality. Customers rave about the wide assortment of fillings, especially the juicy and flavorful chicken empanadas which are tender and bursting with seasoning, made even better by that delicate pizza dough wrapper. They make an excellent accompaniment or a snack on the go, perfect for quick bites or sharing around the table.
The café selection complements the menu beautifully, with well-prepared coffees such as cappuccinos and café con leche served in generous 300 ml portions. Don’t miss pairing your meal with a warm, flaky medialuna for a genuine taste of Buenos Aires café culture.
Beyond the food, the dining experience at Leña radiates warmth and authenticity. The staff, though modest in their English skills, are incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a genuine neighborhood feel that makes every visit memorable. As one satisfied customer Jack Rankin put it, it truly feels like a close-knit family business, reflected in the care they pour into every dish and interaction.
Leña’s unbeatable value also stands out in a city where dining costs can quickly add up for travelers. The offers, such as a set of three empanadas plus a soft drink for under £4.50, add exceptional appeal without compromising quality. Whether you’re a local or a visitor seeking a true taste of Buenos Aires, Leña - Pizzas y Empanadas invites you to indulge in comforting, expertly crafted cuisine with heartfelt service in a cozy, unpretentious setting. This hidden gem promises an authentic and delicious culinary adventure that is hard to forget.

Leña was right by my Airbnb in Palermo and honestly I can speak highly enough about this place. The staff even with very little English are super friendly and helpful. Feels very much like a close family business. The value for money is crazy, they do 3 excellent Empanada and a soft drink for less than £4.50 (November 25’). My favourite was the chicken and if I’m ever back in BA I will make sure to come back to Leña!

Authentic Argentinian-style pizza loaded with rich, flavorful ingredients. The crust is perfectly fluffy, well-fermented, and delicious, with every topping blending harmoniously. They also offer daily specials that are definitely worth trying—especially considering how pricey Buenos Aires has become for international visitors. Great value for the quality. Absolutely worth a return visit!

I stumbled upon this pizza/empanadas place because my airBnB was in the same building. The pizzas are very good and the empanadas are excellent made with the pizza dough. They have a special, you get a cheese pizza and 6 empanadas that looks to be very affordable. I didn’t ordered that bc it was too much food, but I tried some of the empanadas and the Brie pizza. The restaurant looks modest but the food is very good and service is excellent. If you’re in the area looking for a quick meal I can definitely recommend this spot.

Cute lil place We ordered to go Yummy empanadas but no verduras Margherita pizza came with olives for some reason Pizza crust was fluffy, almost cakey. Different but good. We had a bit of confusion having our orders packed together how we wanted, and then separated again because we had paid separately. Oh well haha

Best empanadas I've had here. There is a wide selection of meat and vegetarian options. We ordered a dozen and each type was amazing on its own. The service was also so friendly. Skip the local chains and visit here if you're staying in Palermo Soho. It was truly great food and incredibly reasonable. I'll be back again as I feel it's a gem in the neighbourhood.

Good pizza here! And the people who work here are very nice. You can sit inside or outside. The pizza chica is a very good amount of food! I only could finish half and took the rest home.

Probably the best pizza I've ever had outside Naples Italy. Amazing. Would recommend to everyone.

Friendly, fresh, and pretty good empanadas. They certainly aren’t the best empanada in the city, and even I know that as a tourist, but they’re pretty good and the price isn’t bad. We didn’t try the pizza.
